במהלך הקיץ תתחלף התצוגה בחלונות הראווה מבגדים, ספרים ומזון לצילומים אשר נבחרו יחד לתערוכת ענק ותתפרס בשלוש המפלסים של התחנה המרכזית ברחוב יפו והם יהוו מעין גלריה עד תחילת חודש אוקטובר

טקס פתיחת התערוכה, יתקיים ביום ראשון כ”ט בתמוז 15/07/07 בשעה 20:00 בתחנה המרכזית במעמד השר לענייני ירושלים, השר יעקב אדרי וראש העיר ירושלים, אורי לופוליאנסקי, מנכ”ל אמות ניצב”א , אבי מוסלר, האמנים - אבא ריצ’מן ומקס ריצ’רדסון, אנשי ציבור בעלי עסקים, אנשי תרבות ועוד

התערוכה הייחודית בחסות עיריית ירושלים ובשיתוף הנהלת קניון התחנה המרכזית תוצג במסגרת אירועי חגיגות הארבעים לאיחוד העיר.

ארבעים תמונות של הצלם מקס ריצ'רדסון יוצגו בתערוכה

הצילומים הם ממנהרות הכתל ועיר דוד ומשקפים השינויים שעברו במקום בשנים האחרונות

כמו כן יוצגו בתערוכה 53 תמונות: “יום בחיי התחנה” שצולמו על ידי הצלם

אבא ריצ’מן ותלמידו מהמגמה לצילום בטורו קולג’ בירושלים

התערוכה תנדוד ותוצג בכל קניוני אמות ניצב”א ברחבי הארץ

מקס ריצ’רדסון, שמצלם כבר 25 שנה, עלה לישראל מארצות הברית בשנת 1991 עם פרוץ מלחמת המפרץ, אמר כי הוא שמח להציג את תמונותיו דווקא בתחנה המרכזית בה עוברים בכל יום כשמונת אלפים איש וישנם רבים שעדיין לא ביקרו באתרים האטרקטיביים של מנהרות הכותל ועיר דוד ובאמצעות התערוכה יוכלו להתרשם מעוד מפינות קסומות של בירת ישראל שהונצחו במצלמה וזאת הודות לאיחוד העיר

אבא ריצ’מן עלה ארצה מאנגליה לפני 40 שנה. הוא בוגר בצלאל בעיצוב גרפי וצילום ואחד הצלמים החשובים בארץ. “אומנות שייך לעם ומה המקום הטבעי ביותר להציג תמונות אם לא בתוך חלל של מקום ציבורי כמו התחנה המרכזית. חשבתי לנכון להציג את הפרויקט כאתגר לתלמידים שלי ואני מאוד גאה בתוצאות” 16 מהתמונות הם של אבא ריצ’מן ו37 של התלמידים

Just another child

This is one of our eight grandchildren, Her name is Hadar. She is three. She will, God willing, grow up to be a teenager, a student, a young adult, a mother, a grandmother. A whole world of hope and accomplishment stands before her. She is adored by her parents, her brother, her grandparents, her uncles, her aunts, her cousins, her friends and everyone who knows her. Now close your eyes and imagine a child just like Hadar, a child that you are close to. Imagine how you love her, how you cherish her. Hold that love in your heart and multiply it by 1,500,000. One million, five hundred thousand. Gassed, buried alive, smashed on stones, starved, beaten, knifed, shot, and destroyed by the most efficient killing machine ever known to civilisation. As an Orthodox Jew I am asked very often "Where was God during the Holocaust?". I can only answer, quoting Rabbi Berel Wein - "The question is not where was God, the question is "Where was Man during the Holocaust?". May the souls of those 1,5000,000 Jewish children have eternal rest.

Buttons and the Holocaust

Today is Israel's official Holocaust Memorial day. It is traditionally always held one week before the national Rememberance Day for Israel's soldiers and Victims of Terror. I took the photograph last night at our local memorial service for the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. The two girls are pupils at the Aseh Chayil school in Efrat and are part of the Button Project. This is similar to the Paper Clip project. The children from the school are collecting 1,500,000 buttons, each button representing a Jewish child murdered by the Nazis and thier helpers. Study of the Holocaust has been removed from the British school curriculum because it "offends" the Moslem population. Moslems throughout the world, headed by Iran, claim that the Holocaust never occured. Antisemitism is rampant in every country, especially in Europe. Every civilised person has to Remember. Remember the six million Jews and millions of others murdered during the Nazi regime. Remember -Yizchor.

The violinist Ida Haendel performing Mendelson's Concerto in e minor, op. 64, accompianed by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra last night in Jerusalem. Incredible music, incredible musician. It's never to late late in life to accomplish anything.

How often do we actually Thank God for just being alive? I am a part time volunteer ambulance driver/medic for Magen David Adom. I do an 8 hour shift once a week in Jerusalem and every time without fail when I come home I thank the good Lord for being able to breath, walk and eat by myself, for the fact that all my systems work and for not having to rely on a filipino to take care of me. For that matter for also having food to eat, clothes to wear, a bed to sleep in, a home to go to, for having a loving wife, adorable children and grandchildren. Pesach is a time of Joy and it is a biblical commandment to be happy during the festival. I also thank God that I don't have to be told to be happy.

A fresh start

It's Erev Pesach and for the first time in my photographic life I have been photographing what is known as "Nature", things growing. Spring is in the air, the weather is crazy and as new life slowly emerges from the earth, it's time for a fresh start. Chag Sameach.
